Dumbbell Set With Rack
If you don't already own a set of dumbbells, then
buying a set of dumbbells with a rack can be a really good option. First of all its worth looking at the
reasons for getting a set of dumbbells. Of all the different free weights, dumbbells are perhaps the most
versatile, as if you have a bench to go with them you can work your chest, shoulders, back, abdominals, arms and
legs. The fact that they can be applied to so many different exercises is one of their biggest plus points, as it
means that they are also a cost effective way of working out. The bad news is that not only can dumbbells be quite
expensive, but you can also need quite a lot of them. Because different muscle groups in your body are stronger
then others, you will need a greater weight for some exercises than others (ie you would need a greater weight for
squats than you would bicep curls) The downside of this is that you cant really get away with a single pair of
dumbbells, you have to buy a set. (unless you have adjustable dumbbells)
The cost implication of this can be pretty significant, especially if you buy a large set of dumbbells. Although
the up front cost can seem like a lot, you should work out how much the gym fees would be if you didn't buy the
set- you might find that it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a dumbbell set than go to the
gym.
However if you do buy a set of dumbbells, then you
are going to need a rack to go with them. Otherwise you will have a large set of dumbbells without an efficient
storage system to keep them in order. Having dumbbells lying around a gym floor not only looks untidy, but can also
be potentially dangerous as you could trip and fall. The good news is that if you buy a dumbbell set with a rack
then it often works out cheaper than buying the two separately. This is because the manufacturer will have a bigger
order than if they were just selling a rack or dumbbells and so should reduce their profit margins. The other big
plus of buying dumbbells with a rack is that you know that the dumbbells will fit the rack snugly, as the rack was
designed for that specific style of dumbbell.
Even though it is normally cheaper to buy dumbbells with a rack rather than buying the
two separately, the up front cost is still pretty hefty. If you are just buying a set for home use then
the costs shouldn't be too astronomical, but if you are buying a large set of heavy dumbbells with a reck,
the cost can get pretty serious, going into the thousands of dollars. If you are after a large set of
dumbbells with a rack then it can be worth looking for second hand kit, as it is often a lot cheaper than
buying new.
