3 Tier Dumbbell Rack
A 3 tier dumbbell rack uses three layers of shelving,
or tiers to store dumbells in an efficient manner. I personally quite like 3 tier dumbbell racks as they allow you
to store dumbells of various weights in different areas, allowing you to easily identify and use the correct
dumbbell. For example you could place the heavy dumbells you use for dumbbell press on the bottom tier, medium
dumbells that you might use for shoulder press or curls on the middle and any smaller dumbbells on the top tier. I
personally find it really important to be able to grab the right dumbbells quickly, as I dislike having to spend
time looking around the gym for the right pair when I am in the middle of a workout. One reccommendation is that
you always place the heaviest dumbbells on the bottom tier, as this will reduce the chances of the rack becoming
top heavy and falling over.
A 3 tier dumbbell rack can vary quite a lot in size,
from racks about a metre long to racks that are designed for commercial gyms that are meant to hold many pairs of
dumbells. You should assess how larger rack you need by looking at how many dumbells you have, and how large they
are. It is probably a good idea to get a rack that has more than enough room for your current set of dumbbells, so
that if you get stronger and need to buy more weights then you will still have room for them. Another really
important consideration is to check that the 3 tier dumbbell rack that you are looking at is suitable for your kind
of dumbbells. Dumbbells vary in size and style, and some racks are especially designed for a particular type, for
example you can buy a hex dumbbell rack. If you unsure, measure the dimensions of your dumbells,
particularly the length, handle diameter and handle length and check with the manufacturer or retailer that
the rack is uitable for your kind of dumbbells. It would be really annoying to spend a lot of money on a rack
that you really liked, only to find out that when it arrived it wasnt suitable for your
dumbbells.
Another good feature of a 3 tier rack is that they
tend to be quite ergonomic, as their height makes them easy to reach and grab your dumbells. Having to bend down
excessively to pick up heavy weights can be irritating in a gym, but a tiered rack tends to minimise this. Their
main downside is the cost, as it a 3 tier rack has to be well designed and built, using quality materials as it
cannot rely on a simple and strong structure, like a vertical dumbell
rack can as a vertical rack
exploits the strong shape of a triangle.
If you are looking for a 3 tier rack, then you should
conider it as a really long term purchase that is designed toi last, as they can be pretty expensive, but a quality
3 tier rack is a great option and one of my personal favourites.
